Unlicensed food factory in Yuen Long raided (with photos)

    Officers of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) this (December 12) morning raided an unlicensed food factory at a temporary structure in Tai Kei Leng Tsuen, Yuen Long, and seized about 170 kilogrammes of pig's intestines and some paraphernalia.

    A woman arrested during the operation is assisting investigations.

    Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty, upon conviction, for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

    "We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.

    "People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
