Two employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (December 10) obtained two orders for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $180,000 against two employers in the District Court.

     The District Court today issued judgments against World Time Company Limited and Union Charm Limited trading as Shun Tak Yue Wong Seafood Restaurant. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $125,170.96 and $60,595.50, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to one and 18 employees of the defendants respectively.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court also ordered each defendant to pay costs of $930.
