Lease modifications and land exchanges registered in 2008 third quarter
**********************************************************

The Lands Department registered 25 lease modifications and three land exchanges in the Land Registry during the quarter ending September, 2008, of which 22 were for residential purpose and six for non-residential development.

Among these 28 land transactions, 17 are located on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and three in the New Territories.  The transactions exclude Small House cases.

Another seven lots were granted by private treaty during the period.  One was for temple purpose in Tai Po, one was granted to MTRCL at Che Kung Temple Station in Sha Tin for the commercial/residential development and the other five were granted to Hong Kong Housing Authority in respect of existing public housing developments.

A spokesman for the Lands Department said today (October 15) that the 35 land transactions realised a total land premium of about $7.16 billion.

Transaction records of the lease modifications, land exchanges and private treaty grants including those registered recently are uploaded onto Lands Department's website (www.landsd.gov.hk) on a monthly basis.  Further case details may also be obtained by searching the registered documents directly in the Land Registry.
