Renovation work at Quarry Bay Public Library

    Renovation of Quarry Bay Public Library would mean better library facilities and service quality, a spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department said today (May 27).

    Work would begin on June 1 on the library which is located on the 4/F and 5/F of the Quarry Bay Municipal Services Building.

    The renovations will be implemented in three phases and are expected to be completed in November.

    The first phase of the renovation will start from June 1. The StudentsĄŻ Study Room and Extension Activities Room on 5/F will temporarily close while other services will remain as normal.

    The second phase of the renovation will start in early July. The ChildrenĄŻs Library and self-charging machine on 4/F, the StudentsĄŻ Study Room and Extension Activities Room on 5/F will temporarily close.

    A temporary library will be set up at the StudentsĄŻ Study Room on 5/F to provide limited library services of readersĄŻ registration, lending, reservation, readersĄŻ advisory, self-service photocopying, newspapers and periodicals as well as Internet services. A book drop service will be provided after library hours.

    During the third phase of the renovation, which is expected to start in mid- September, the Adult Library, StudentsĄŻ Study Room and Extension Activities Room on 5/F will temporarily close, while facilities on 4/F will be re-opened and limited library services will be provided. A book drop service will also be provided after library hours.

    The opening hours of the library will remain unchanged during the whole renovation period. Readers are encouraged to use the North Point Public Library, Electric Road Public Library, Chai Wan Public Library and Yiu Tung Public Library.
