Castle Peak Hospital reports cases with respiratory symptoms

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following announcement today (May 26):

    Four patients (aged from 47 to 61) of a male long-stay ward of CPH have presented with respiratory symptoms since May 21.  Appropriate tests have been carried out.  Test results of all concerned patients are negative for Influenza A and Influenza B.  All of these patients have been transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment under isolation and are in stable condition.

    Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been enhanced.  Admission to the ward has been suspended and the restricted visiting policy imposed.  All patients are under close medical surveillance.

    The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
