Yuen Long restaurant ordered to suspend business
************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop I, ground floor, Block 2, Wing Fat House, 20 Ma Miu Road, was ordered to suspend business from today (May 26) to June 8, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In December last year and March this year, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business and storage of food preparation utensils in open space at the food premises.

"A total fine of $4,000 was levied and 15 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the restaurant also had two convictions in June and October last year for unauthorised extension of food business.

"A total fine of $2,500 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from December 25 to 31 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
