Unlicensed food factory in Tai Po raided

    Officers of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD)this morning (May 20) raided an unlicensed food factory at the loading bay of Jade Plaza, Tai Po, and seized about 120 kilogrammes of pork and some paraphernalia.

    During the operation, a man was arrested and is assisting investigations.

    Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

    ˇ°We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health,ˇ± an FEHD spokesman said.

    ˇ°People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000.ˇ±
