E-channel service to be extended to frequent visitors
*****************************************************

The Immigration Department announced yesterday (May 16) that it was extending its e-channel service to frequent visitors to Hong Kong.

The service, which comes into effect from next Monday (May 19), will allow frequent visitors, who have successfully enrolled with the department, to perform self-service immigration clearance at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).  There will be six e-channels for arriving visitors, and the service will be extended to departing visitors later this year.

A department spokesman said yesterday that the service would be available to frequent visitors aged 18 or above who hold a valid HKSAR Travel Pass, APEC Business Travel Card with the economy code "HKG" printed on the reverse side or HKIA Frequent Visitor Card, and who are travelling on a valid travel document and with a multiple visit visa (if applicable).

The enrolment office is located at the airport arrival hall and enrolment is free.  The new scheme will enable frequent visitors to enjoy more convenient and speedy immigration clearance service, and, at the same time, enhance the immigration clearance capacity of visitors.  Interested travellers may visit the Immigration Department's website at www.immd.gov.hk for details.
