Castle Peak Hospital influenza-like outbreak

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    The spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital made the following announcement today (May 13):

    Five patients (aged from 29 to 57) of a female acute admission ward have presented with respiratory symptoms since May 8. Appropriate clinical tests have been carried out. Test results of all concerned patients are negative to Influenza A and Influenza B. All of these patients have been transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment under isolation and are in stable condition.

    Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been enhanced. Admission to the ward has been suspended while visiting and patient discharge arrangement has remained normal. 

    The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
