The Government today (May 9) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Iran) (Amendment) Regulation 2008. The amendment regulation comes into immediate effect.
¡°The amendment regulation amends the United Nations Sanctions (Iran) Regulation in order to implement the additional sanctions against Iran imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 1803,¡± a government spokesman said.
The amendment regulation provides for:
* A prohibition against the supply, delivery, transfer and carriage to Iran of additional nuclear-related items, material, equipment, goods and technology;
* Additional requirements for the granting of a licence for the supply, delivery, transfer or carriage of certain nuclear-related items, material, equipment, goods and technology to Iran;
* A prohibition against making funds or other financial assets or economic resources available to additional persons or entities ; and
* A prohibition against entry into or transit through the HKSAR of certain persons.
