Kwai Chung restaurant ordered to suspend business
*************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Kwai Chung to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Flat E, ground floor, Chun Po Building, 1009 Kwai Chung Road, was ordered to suspend business from today (May 8) to May 21, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In June last year and January this year, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business at the premises."

"A total fine of $6,200 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the restaurant also had convictions in November, 2006, and April last year one for unauthorised extension of food business and another for unauthorised alteration of premises.

"A total fine of $2,400 was levied and 15 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from July 12 to 18 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
