Unlicensed food factory in Yuen Long raided(with photos)

    The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) this morning (May 8) raided an unlicensed food factory at Tai Tong Shan Road, Yuen Long, and seized about 83 kilogrammes of fried fritters, 60 kilogrammes of dough and some cooking paraphernalia.

    During the operation, a man was arrested and is assisting investigations.

    Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.

    "We will continue to take stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food businesses to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.

    "People should report such illegal activities through the department's hotline at 2868 0000."
