CSB reminds colleagues of office security
*****************************************

The Secretariat on Civil Service Discipline under the Civil Service Bureau today (April 30) conveyed apologies to 25 serving civil servants whose names and post titles were stored in a portable electronic storage device (USB memory stick) that was reported missing last week.

The stick contained information on two disciplinary inquiries on alleged misconduct by two civil servants. No personal information on any member of the public is stored in the lost stick. The loss of the stick has already been reported to the Police and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.

The Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, has expressed concern over the loss of the stick. She has instructed, and action has already been taken, to step up security over the use and safe keeping of USB memory sticks containing personal or classified information. She has also reminded all staff to observe at all times the relevant security regulations.
