Clubhouse operator fined
************************

A clubhouse operator was fined $1,000 at Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (April 23) for altering the layout of the premises without permission.

Officers of the Office of Licensing Authority (OLA), Home Affairs Department, found that the layout of the clubhouse at Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei, deviated from the registered drawing during an inspection last October. Moreover, an extra number of tables and chairs were placed on the premises.

The clubhouse operator was in contravention of the conditions of the Certificate of Compliance and was subsequently charged under section 21(1)(a) of the Clubs (Safety of Premises) Ordinance.

A department spokesman stressed that the department would continue to take strict enforcement action against non-compliance cases involving clubhouses. He also appealed to the public to report non-compliance cases to the OLA on 2881 7498.
