The Transport Department (TD) today (April 17) reminds members of the public on the special transport and traffic arrangements for day horse race meetings at Happy Valley Race Course on April 20 (Sunday).
A spokesman for TD said: " Day horse race meetings will be held in the afternoon from 1.00 pm to 5.45 pm at Happy Valley Race Course. Special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented at Happy Valley."
Main points of special traffic and transport arrangements are:
- From about 12 noon, Wong Nai Chung Road southbound between Queen¡¯s Road East and Hong Kong Jockey Club will be closed (except access to Aberdeen Tunnel) and Wong Nai Chung Road between Village Road and Queen¡¯s Road East will be converted to one-way northbound;
- Traffic arrangements for dispersal will be implemented from about 35 minutes before the start of the last race. The up ramp at Wong Nai Chung Road to Aberdeen Tunnel; Wong Nai Chung Road between Queen's Road East and Village Road; and Morrison Hill Road southbound between Leighton Road and Wong Nai Chung Road will be closed. Bus and GMB routes along Morrison Hill Road southbound heading for Aberdeen Tunnel will be diverted via Gloucester Road and Canal Road flyover.
The spokesman also appeals to the public who plan to go to the affected areas to use public transport. Motorists are advised to follow the traffic signs and avoid driving into the affected areas if not strictly necessary. They are also advised to exercise tolerance and patience, and observe the instructions of Police.
Notices will be displayed by public transport operators to advise passengers of the temporary arrangements. Passengers should pay attention to the notices at bus stops and the public should watch out the latest traffic news via media.
