Public forum tomorrow on proposed Legco election guidelines

The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:

    To prepare for the 2008 Legislative Council election on September 7, the Electoral Affairs Commission invites all interested individuals and parties to attend a public forum tomorrow (April 10) on the Proposed Guidelines on Election-related Activities in respect of the Legislative Council Election.

    The forum will begin at 2.30pm in the commission's conference room at 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai. Commission chairman Mr Justice Pang Kin-kee will chair the forum.

    People are welcome to express their views at the forum.

    The proposed guidelines were released on March 25 for public consultation until April 23. After the consultation, the commission will release the finalised guidelines before the start of the nomination period, which will run from July 19 to August 1.

    Written representations on the proposed guidelines can be sent to the commission's secretariat at 10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai. Submissions by fax (2511 1682) or email (eacenq@reo.gov.hk) are also welcome.

    The proposed guidelines can be obtained from the Registration and Electoral Office (10/F, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai), or District Offices of the Home Affairs Department.
