Overseas Duty Visit of the LegCo Panel on Development

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

    The Legislative Council Panel on Development will conduct a 9-day overseas duty visit to Amsterdam and Prague from March 13 to 21, 2008 to study their experiences in town planning and urban renewal.
  
    During the visit, the delegation will meet with the relevant authorities and personnel of the two cities, and exchange views with the receiving parties on the two study areas.

    The nine-member delegation will be led by Hon LAU Wong-fat, Chairman of the Panel on Development. Other members include Prof Hon Patrick LAU Sau-shing, Deputy Chairman of the Panel on Development; Hon James TO Kun-sun; Hon Timothy FOK Tsun-ting; Hon Albert CHAN Wai-yip (joining the Amsterdam leg only); Hon Daniel LAM Wai-keung; Hon Alan LEONG Kah-kit; (joining the Prague leg only); Hon TAM Yiu-chung; and Hon Frederick FUNG Kin-kee.
  
    The visit programme is as follows:
  
(A) Amsterdam (March 14 to 17)

* Presentation and exhibition by the Amsterdam Architecture Centre
* Presentation by the Amsterdam Department of Spatial Planning and visit to the Eastern  Port Area
* Dinner to be hosted by the Province of North Holland and the City of Amsterdam
* Visit to Zuidas and further sites organized by Amsterdam Department of Spatial Planning

(B) Amsterdam/Prague (March 18)

* Meeting with City Council Committee on Spatial Development
* Depart Amsterdam for Prague

(C) Prague(March 19 to 20)

* Meeting with Mr Milan Turba, Director of the Strategic Concept Department from the City Development Authority of Prague and presentation of the Prague Strategic Plan
* Working luncheon to be hosted by the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Chamber of Deputies - Parliament of the Czech Republic
* Site visit arranged by the City Development Authority of Prague to areas where a redevelopment project has been implemented
* Dinner to be hosted by Mr WONG Kai-yi, Stephen, Director (Berlin Designate), the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin
* Presentation given by AIG Lincoln company on a renovation project within the area of the City District of Prague 11
* Working luncheon to be hosted by the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Chamber of Deputies - Parliament of the Czech Republic
* Visit to heritage sites in Central Prague
