China maritime exhibition to open at HKCEC tomorrow
***************************************************

The Marine Department will take part in the "China Maritime" exhibition, which will open tomorrow (March 12) to give key industry players and the public a better understanding of the role and various services provided by the department.

"China Maritime", a significant international exhibition for the maritime industry, will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from tomorrow to March 14.

Participants will include government authorities, shipowners, ship operators, ship managers and marine equipment manufacturers.

The theme of the Marine Department's booth is to promote the department as the competent authority for port operation, safety of Hong Kong waters, and the high quality standard of the ships registered in Hong Kong.

Another focus of the booth is the services provided by the Hong Kong Shipping Register under Marine Department.  In recent years, the Register has achieved substantial growth, and become one of the top five shipping registries in the world. Shipowners are prompted to join this world-class register, which has established its excellent reputation for the quality services it provides.

The booth also features the new electronic business service to be introduced in the near future to accept one-stop shop online submission of the documents required by the Marine Department, the Department of Health and the Immigration Department for port formality application.
