Castle Peak Hospital updates on Norovirus cases

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    Regarding a male forensic rehabilitation ward of Castle Peak Hospital in which some patients had presented with diarrhoea symptoms, the hospital spokesman announced the following update today (March 8).

    One more male patient (aged 38) of the concerned ward has presented with diarrhoea symptom today. Appropriate test has been arranged for the patient and the result is positive to Norovirus. Up to now, there are eight patients found to be positive to Novovirus. The patients have been transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment under isolation and are in stable condition.

    Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up. Admission to the ward has been suspended while all patients are under close medical surveillance.

    The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
