Castle Peak Hospital reports Norovirus outbreak

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority: 

    The spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following announcement today (March 7):

    Seven male patients (aged 23 to 61) in a forensic rehabilitation ward of CPH have presented with diarrhoea symptoms since March 2.  Appropriate tests have been arranged for these patients and all of them are positive for Norovirus.  The patients have been transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment under isolation and are in stable condition.
    Infection control measures in the ward concerned have already been stepped up.  Admission to the ward has been suspended while all patients are under close medical surveillance.

    The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
