Road, drainage and sewerage works at Whitehead and Lok Wo Sha gazetted

    The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (March 7) on phase one of road, drainage and sewerage works at Whitehead and Lok Wo Sha.

    The proposed works include construction of an approximately 800 metre long dual two-lane carriageway connecting the existing Sai Sha Road roundabout; construction of an approximately 160m long single two-lane carriageway and an approximately 280m long access road connecting to a future sewage pumping station; realignment of an approximately 110m long existing access road to Whitehead; construction of associated footpaths, cycle tracks, central reserves/traffic islands and ancillary works including drainage and sewerage works, and retaining walls.

    Some sections of the existing carriageways and footpaths/tracks will be temporarily or permanently closed, reconstructed or demolished.

    The proposed works are required to provide engineering works for the future development at the Whitehead and Lok Wo Sha area. The construction work will start in late 2008 and take about 26 months to complete.

    The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(i)  Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Center, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii)  Sha Tin District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, G/F, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin ; and

(iii) District Lands Office, Sha Tin, 11/F, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin.

    Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before May 6.
