The spokesperson of Ruttonjee & Tang Shiu Kin Hospitals (RHTSK) made the following announcement today (March 6):
Seven patients (aged 46 to 90) of a female geriatric extended care and rehabilitation ward have presented with vomiting and diarrhea symptoms since February 26, 2008. Appropriate tests have been arranged for the patients. Test results of three patients were found positive to Norovirus. The patients are being treated under isolation and they are in stable condition.
Admission and visiting to the ward have been suspended. Infection control measures have also been stepped up. All patients of the concerned ward are under close surveillance.
RHTSK Infection Control Team has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
