Employer ordered to pay MPF non-payment

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 6) pursued one claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $24,000 on behalf of three employees who were owed MPF contributions by the employer.

    Tsui Fook Ki, formerly trading as Kwai Fa Sha Loong Hair Design, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered him to pay the MPFA $24,812.94, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

    The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees¡¯ MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The tribunal also ordered the defendant to pay costs of $267.
