Enrol for flower show photo competition (With photo)
****************************************************

Photography enthusiasts are invited to enter the "Vibrant Blossoms for Beijing Olympics" Photo Competition, which is being held in conjunction with the annual Hong Kong Flower Show.

The competition is jointly organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) and sponsored by Seagate Technology LLC.

Featuring Gerbera as this year's theme flower, the flower show will take place from March 14 to 24 in Victoria Park, from 9am to 9pm daily.

The competition aims to promote community greening with impressive photographs of flowers and plants on display; interesting or touching scenes captured at the showground; and portraits of TVB artistes and Miss Hong Kong 2007 titleholders with beautiful garden displays as a background.

The competition is divided into three categories. Category A, "Portrait of TVB Artistes and Miss Hong Kong", comprising Open and Student Sections, will hold its shooting session from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on March 13 in Victoria Park.

Entrants in Category A may enrol in person at any LCSD Leisure Link Outlet from now until March 12, or by calling 2927 8080 from now until March 7. The maximum number of entrants is 1,000. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Entry fees are $30 for adults and $15 for students, senior citizens aged 60 or above, and persons with a disability.

It is not necessary to apply in advance for Category B, "Flowers", and Category C, "Snapshots". However, entrants are required to pay admission fees for entering the showground during the show period. Photographs must be related to the Hong Kong Flower Show 2008 and taken at the showground of the Hong Kong Flower Show 2008 during the show period.

All entries must be submitted by mail or in person by 6pm on April 15 to the Secretariat, Hong Kong Flower Show, 11/F, Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters, 1-3 Pai Tau Street, Sha Tin.

In each category, there will be a first prize, second prize, third prize and a number of commendations. Results of the competition will be announced on the LCSD website at www.lcsd.gov.hk in June. Winners will be notified in writing for collection of prizes.

All winning entries will be put on display at Kowloon Park Green Education and Resource Centre and Arcade between June and July. Photos of the winning entries will also be uploaded onto the LCSD website at the same time.

For details of the photo competition, please refer to the leaflets and entry forms available at the District Leisure Services Offices of LCSD, or visit the LCSD website. For enquiries, please call 2697 8030.
