Immigration Officers start French exchange study programme yesterday
***********************************************************

Two Chief Immigration Officers started a two-week exchange programme in France yesterday (March 1).

Director of Immigration Mr Lai Tung-kwok met the two officers, Mr Au Ka-wang and Mr Kwok Joon-fung, before they set off for France. He stressed the importance of enhancing the professionalism of Immigration staff.

The two officers will spend the next fortnight with the French National Police. The objective is to share working experiences through attachment training and to strengthen co-operation between the two authorities in combating the use of forged documentation and illegal migration.

The two officers will attend an integrated programme in the French Immigration Task Force and visit various immigration offices including the Airport of Orly, control points of Marseille and the detention centre in Marseille.

Mr Lai said that the visit would provide a good opportunity for the officers to broaden their horizons and to enhance their working relationship with overseas Immigration counterparts.
