************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop P1, ground floor, Tung Fat Building, Ping Wui Street, Yuen Long Town Lots 81 & 119, was ordered to suspend business from today (February 26) to March 10, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In August and September last year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food premises.

"A total fine of $10,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the restaurant also had two convictions in May and August last year for the same offence.

"A total fine of $10,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from November 23 to 29 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
