19 building plans approved in January

    The Buildings Department approved 19 building plans in January - six on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

    Of the approved plans, eight were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments and three were for community services developments.

    In the same month, consent was given for work to start on nine building projects that, when completed, will provide 10,897 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 83 units, and 96,648 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 13 building projects.

    The department also issued 12 occupation permits - one on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

    Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 10,203 square metres, involving 134 units, and 34,307 square metres for non-domestic use.

    The declared cost of the new buildings completed in January totalled about $0.8 billion.

    In addition, eight demolition consents involving eight building structures were issued.

    The department received 1,939 complaints against unauthorised building works in January, and issued 1,809 removal orders on unauthorised works.
