HK Post announces special stamp issue - "Hong Kong Flowers" (with photos)

    The Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong, today (February 25) announced that a set of special stamps with the theme of "Hong Kong Flowers" will be released on March 14 (Friday). Associated stamp products will also be on sale from the same day.
   
    This set of stamps is a sequel to the first set of stamps featuring Hong Kong Flowers launched in 1985, and is composed of six stamps under the same theme. The six common local flowers are Chinese Hibiscus ($1.4); Tree Cotton ($1.8); Allamanda ($2.4); Azalea ($2.5); Indian Lotus ($3) and Morning Glory ($5). Rendered with fine brushstrokes, the six common local flowers stand out against a simple backdrop.
   
   Official First Day Covers at $1 each will be put on sale at all post offices from February 29. This set of stamps and the associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices from the same day. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from February 29 to March 6.
