Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and New Territories tomorrow (December 23) to facilitate the holding of a cycling race.
The arrangements are as follows:
Hong Kong Island

1. Road closure
Bank Street will be closed from 3am to noon.
Departure Phase:
The two rightmost lanes of westbound Queen's Road Central between Des Voeux Road Central and Ice House Street will be closed from 3am to about noon.
A section of Queen's Road Central between Des Voeux Road Central and Ice House Street will be closed, and rolling closure will be implemented at the following roads from about 9am:
- Queen's Road Central;
- Pedder Street;
- Westbound Connaught Road Central;
- Westbound Rumsey Street flyover; and
- Northbound Western Harbour Crossing.
Arrival Phase:
The two rightmost lanes of westbound Queen's Road Central between Des Voeux Road Central and Ice House Street will be closed from 3am to about noon.
A section of Queen's Road Central between Des Voeux Road Central and Ice House Street will be closed, and rolling closure will be implemented at the following roads from about 11am:
- Southbound Western Harbour Crossing;
- Eastbound Rumsey Street flyover;
- Eastbound Connaught Road Central;
- Eastbound Pedder Street underpass;
- Eastbound Harcourt Road;
- Southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- The exiting ramp leading from Cotton Tree Drive to westbound Queensway; and
- The section of westbound Queensway between Cotton Tree Drive and Queen's Road Central.
2. Alternative routing during road closure period
As the en-route traffic may be affected during the period of road closure, the following alternative routings are suggested:
- Traffic from Central heading for Western Harbour Crossing or Kennedy Town are advised to travel via the at-grade sections of Connaught Road Central and Connaught Road West in lieu of Rumsey Street flyover;
- Traffic from Mid-levels heading for Central are advised to travel via Garden Road, Garden Road Flyover, Cotton Tree Drive, Lambeth Walk, Chater Road, Jackson Road and Connaught Road Central; and
- Traffic from Western Harbour Crossing heading for Central District are advised to travel via the at-grade sections of Connaught Road West and Connaught Road Central in lieu of Rumsey Street Flyover and Pedder Street underpass.
Kowloon

The northbound carriageway of West Kowloon Highway and Tsing Kwai Highway will be intermittently closed from about 9.10am until the roads are re-opened for normal traffic.
The southbound carriageway of West Kowloon Highway and Tsing Kwai Highway will be intermittently closed from about 11am until the roads are re-opened for normal traffic.
New Territories
---------------
The northbound carriageway of Tsing Kwai Highway and the westbound carriageway of Kwai Tsing Road will be intermittently closed from about 9.20am before the racers enter the circuit in Tsing Yi until the roads are re-opened for normal vehicular traffic.
The eastbound carriageway of Kwai Tsing Road (Tsing Yi Bridge Section) and the southbound carriageway of Tsing Kwai Highway will be intermittently closed from about 10.50am when the racers leave the circuit in Tsing Yi until the roads are re-opened for normal vehicular traffic.
The following traffic arrangements will be implemented in Tsing Yi from about 8am until it is safe to re-open the roads to normal vehicular traffic:
1. Road closure
- A section of southbound Tsing Yi Road between Tsing Yi Interchange and Ching Hong Road will be closed;
- A section of westbound Ching Hong Road between Tsing Yi Road and Tsing Yi Road West will be closed;
- A section of southbound Tsing Yi Road West between Ching Hong Road and Tsing Yi Road will be closed; and
- A section of northbound Tsing Yi Road between southbound Tsing Yi Road West and Tsing Yi Interchange (including the slip road underpassing Tsing Yi Interchange onto Kwai Tsing Road) will be closed.
2. Traffic Diversions
- Traffic on southbound Tsing Yi Road West heading for Tsing Yi Road / Cheung Tsing Highway are advised to travel via eastbound Ching Hong Road, northbound Tsing Yi Road (Mayfair Gardens Section), Tsing Yi Interchange, southbound Tsing Yi Road (Container Terminal 9 Section), northbound Tsing Yi Road West and Cheung Tsing Highway;
- Traffic on westbound Kwai Tsing Road heading for Ching Hong Road are advised to travel via northbound Tsing Yi Heung Sze Wui Road, westbound Chung Mei Road and eastbound Ching Hong Road;
- Traffic on westbound Kwai Tsing Road heading for Cheung Tsing Highway are advised to travel southbound Tsing Yi Road (Container Terminal 9 Section), northbound Tsing Yi Road West and Cheung Tsing Highway;
- Traffic on Cheung Tsing Highway heading for Tsing Yi Road are advised to travel via northbound Tsing Yi Road West, eastbound Ching Hong Road and Tsing Yi Road (Mayfair Gardens Section);
- Traffic on Tsing Yi Hong Wan Road heading for Kwai Tsing Road are advised to travel via southbound Tsing Yi Road (Container Terminal 9 Section), northbound Tsing Yi Road West, eastbound Ching Hong Road, northbound Tsing Yi Road (Mayfair Gardens Section), Tsing Yi Interchange and Kwai Tsing Road (Tsing Yi Bridge Section); and
- Traffic access to Rambler Crest (except GMB Routes 88F and 88G) are advised to divert via Tsing Hung Road and vehicles leaving Rambler Crest can only turn right from Tsing Hung Road onto southbound Tsing Yi Road (Container Terminal 9 Section).
