Remaining Lunar New Year fair stalls to be auctioned on January 7

    The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) announced today (December 20) that 168 remaining stalls at the 2008 Lunar New Year fairs would be put up for open auction on January 7 (Monday).

     A total of 70 wet goods stalls, 97 dry goods stalls and one fast food stall, which were not let out in recent auctions, will be re-auctioned at the Assembly Hall, second floor, Lai Chi Kok Government Offices, 19 Lai Wan Road, Lai Chi Kok. Stalls in the New Territories will be put up for auction first, followed by those in Victoria Park and Kowloon.

     The stalls are located at Kwai Chung Sports Ground in Kwai Tsing, Yuen Wo Playground in Sha Tin, Po Hong Park in Tseung Kwan O, Victoria Park, Cheung Sha Wan Playground, Fa Hui Park and Morse Park. The Lunar New Year fairs will be held from February 1 to 7.

     The number of available stalls and their reserve prices are as follows:

     Bidders must be at least 18 years old and anyone can bid for more than one stall.

     A successful bidder is required to pay the bid price of the stall at the fall of the hammer. Bidders who use dishonoured cheques or fail to pay the sum required immediately after the auction will be sued and recovery action on the bid prices in arrears may also be taken.

     A successful bidder who fails to pay the sum required immediately after the auction will forfeit his or her right to the stall and the stalls concerned will be put up for re-auction immediately.

     Stalls which are not let out in this round of auctions will be available from 9.30am on January 14 (Monday), 2008, at the following locations for letting at their reserve prices on a first-come-first-served basis:
