Special service arrangements during relocation of Land Registry Data Centre
*******************************************************

The Land Registry announced today (December 17) that its data centre, currently situated in a commercial building, would be relocated to a government data centre on December 22.

"The government data centre provides permanent accommodation and is better equipped with support facilities and backup power supplies. The relocation will increase the security of the Integrated Registration Information System (IRIS) and help contain overhead costs," a spokesman for the Land Registry said.

The relocation will take place between December 22 and 25. Special service arrangements will be put in place during the period when the IRIS main system is out of service.

Search services will be provided by a backup system. As time is required to get the backup system ready, search services will not be available on December 22 and in the morning of December 23. Search services supported by the backup system will start from noon on December 23.

"Due to the limitation of the backup system, only search of land registers will be provided during the period from noon on December 23 to December 25. Other IRIS search services will not be available," the spokesman said.

Deeds lodgement services will be provided as usual on December 24.  Customers can deliver deeds to the Land Registry Customer Centre at 19th floor, Queensway Government Offices for registration from 9am to 1.30pm.

All Land Registry services will be back to normal when the IRIS main system resumes operation on December 26.

For details of the special service arrangements during the relocation of the Land Registry Data Centre, people can visit the registry's website (http://www.landreg.gov.hk) or call its Customer Service Hotline at 3105 0000.

"The Land Registry held meetings with representatives of Estate Agents Trade Associations and the Law Society to inform them of the relocation of the data centre. The Land Registry Circular Memorandum No 7/07 was also issued on December 7 to notify IRIS subscribers and stakeholders of the special service arrangements during the relocation period," the spokesman said.
