The new Cape Collinson Garden of Remembrance managed by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) will start to accept applications tomorrow (December 11) for scattering cremated ashes there.
Situated in the Cape Collinson Crematorium, the 900-square metre garden combines naturally with its environs, featuring a variety of flowers and plants in a scenic and tranquil setting. A wall has also been erected for mounting plaques in memory of the deceased. A memorial ritual can be arranged at the garden before scattering cremated ashes.
Applicants, either in person or through an authorised agent, should bring along the "permit to take away cremated ash" to apply at the Cemeteries and Crematoria Section offices in Hung Hom or Happy Valley. Applications can also be made by post or fax. Approval will normally be given within seven working days. Scattering cremated ashes in gardens of remembrance is free of charge.
There are eight gardens of remembrance under the management of the FEHD. They are located on Hong Kong Island, in Kowloon, the New Territories and Islands District.
