The "Special Topics Report No. 45" on social statistics is published by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) today (December 10).
The report contains the findings of a special enquiry on "Benefits of employees under the Employment Ordinance" which was conducted by the C&SD via the General Household Survey during January to March 2006.
In this enquiry, information was collected on the characteristics (e.g. age, sex, industry and occupation currently engaged in) of employees working in the non-government sector and the existing employment benefits provided to them by their employers. Information on the patterns of sick leave and maternity leave taken by employees in the non-government sector was also collected.
The report includes findings of the above enquiry with some 30 statistical tables and charts. Users can download this publication free of charge at the website of the C&SD (www.censtatd.gov.hk/products_and_services/products/publications/index.jsp).
