**********************************************

The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, this afternoon (March 2) visited Wan Chai District to see the latest developments there.

Mr Lee stopped at the Methodist Centre and spoke with trainees attending a retraining course for security guards and property management. The course is to give trainees a basic knowledge of building security and management, including guidelines for security guards, procedures on how to screen visitors, handling of emergencies and fire prevention.

Accompanied by the District Officer (Wan Chai), Mr William Yuen, Mr Lee then went to the pedestrian precinct at Lockhart Road and East Point Road in Causeway Bay.

Mr Lee was briefed on the latest progress of the MTR Causeway Bay Station Improvement works and the Hennessy Road Underground Pedestrian-and-Retail Link project. He was told that when completed, the development projects would greatly ease overcrowding near the MTR station and nearby roads, and provide pedestrians with a safer and more comfortable environment.

Mr Lee later went to the junction of Hung Hing Road and Tonnochy Road where he was briefed on the improvement project at the waterfront along Hung Hing Road, Government Helipad and the proposed harbourfront enhancement scheme of Wan Chai Development Phase II Review.

Before ending his visit, Mr Lee met the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the Wan Chai District Council and three area committees and listened to their views on local issues.
