Tuen Mun Hospital Norovirus cases outbreak

    Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) spokesperson made the following announcement today (January 25):

     Since January 19, four male patients (aged 71 to 89) and four staff members of a geriatric ward have presented with vomiting and diarrhea symptoms. The patients were being treated under isolation and they are in stable condition. The symptoms of the four staff members have subsided. Appropriate tests have been arranged for the patients and two of them are positive to Norovirus.

     Admission to the ward has been suspended. Restricted visiting to and discharge from the ward is also imposed. Patients' relatives have been informed about the situation. Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up. All other patients and the staff in the ward are under close surveillance.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
