Increase of social security payments
************************************

Recipients of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme and Disability Allowance under the Social Security Allowance (SSA) Scheme would get higher rates of payment from February 1, a spokesman for the Social Welfare Department said today (January 19).

An increase of 1.2% in the standard payments under the CSSA and Disability Allowance under the SSA Schemes to take account of inflation was approved by the Finance Committee of the Legislative Council on December 15, 2006. Details of the revised rates are listed in the Annex.

The payment rates under the Old Age Allowance will remain unchanged.

CSSA and SSA recipients who have enquiries are advised to contact their respective social security field units or the departmental hotline at 2343 2255.
