*********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 3) pursued five claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $72,000 on behalf of 11 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At today's hearing, the defendant, Global Florist Manufacturing Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $3,957.49, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other four defendants, Chinese Club Discount Centre Limited, Kwong Lung Food I/E Company Limited, Agel Hong Kong Limited and Saga Enterprise Company Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $44,585.5, $11,819.87, $11,550 and $278.99, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $230, $290, $270, $300 and $210 as the costs in respect of the claims.
