Escape attempt foiled

    An attempted escape by a remand inmate was foiled today (December 21) by Correctional Services Department (CSD) staff.

     About 4pm, a female inmate of Tai Lam Centre for Women (TLCW) suddenly ran towards the fire exit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH)'s Accident and Emergency Department where she was waiting for admission.

     She was immediately caught by CSD staff members.

     The 32-year-old inmate, surname Lung, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and was admitted to TLCW on remand on December 19.

     She was sent to QEH today for further treatment following her claim of stomach pains.

     Police have been informed of the incident.
