Kowloon Hospital update on Norovirus cases
******************************************

Following an earlier announcement on a number of patients in a psychiatric ward in Kowloon Hospital presenting with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms, the hospital gave the following updates today (November 27):

Today there is one more male patient (aged 47) in the ward concerned presenting with vomiting symptoms. The patient is being isolated for treatment and is in a stable condition. Since November 22, 12 patients and one staff member have presented with the symptoms. Test results of five patients were found positive to Norovirus.

Infection control measures in the ward concerned have already been enhanced. There will be no admission to and discharge from the ward for the time-being. Visiting in the isolated cubicle in the ward is also suspended. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
