Kwun Tong restaurant ordered to suspend business

    The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Kwun Tong to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

     The restaurant, at Shop B, ground floor, Wah Yee Building, 8 Yan Oi Court, was ordered to suspend business from today (November 27) to December 10, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

     "In July and August this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business and failing to cover food properly at the food premises.

     "A total fine of $10,200 was levied and 15 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

     He said there were also three convictions in respect of dirty food room, using open spaces for food preparation, and illegal extension of food business regarding the same restaurant in October last year, and February and July this year respectively.

     "A total fine of $14,000 was levied and 20 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from September 12 to 18 this year," the spokesman said.

     He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
