Yau Ma Tei restaurant ordered to suspend business
*************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has suspended the licence of a restaurant in Yau Ma Tei for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at ground floor, 184 Temple Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (November 21) to December 4, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In July and September this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food premises.

"A total fine of $12,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day licence suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the restaurant also had two convictions for the same offence in February and March this year.

"A total fine of $7,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from June 1 to 7 this year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
