Visitor attacks staff member at Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre
************************************************************

A staff member of Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre (LCKRC) was assaulted and threatened at work yesterday (November 16) by two Chinese males respectively.

The two Chinese males arrived at LCKRC at about 10am together with another companion to visit a remand prisoner. They were told by the male staff member, surnamed Kwok, that only two visitors were allowed to visit the prisoner at any one time.

The incident happened later outside LCKRC's visitor registration room when one of the three males kicked Kwok on his heel from the back and splashed him with liquid from a bottle. The other, surnamed Chen, verbally abused and threatened Kwok.

Kwok immediately called for assistance, but the assailant fled before the arrival of other staff members. The case was reported to the police.

Upon a police investigation, Chen was charged with criminal intimidation. He pleaded not guilty in Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today and was released on cash bail for trial at a later date. The assailant is yet to be located.
