Sponsorship Scheme on Anti-Cross-boundary Drug Abuse launched

    The Action Committee Against Narcotics (ACAN) and the Narcotics Division, Security Bureau is calling for applications for a sponsorship programme, which addresses the cross-boundary drug abuse problem.

     The "Sponsorship Scheme on Anti-Cross-boundary Drug Abuse Projects" encourages non-profit organisations to hold anti-drug educational and publicity activities targeting youths at risk.

     Projects under the sponsorship of the scheme should start between November 2006 and July 2007 in Hong Kong. The maximum grant for each application is $50,000.

     Applications will be assessed by a vetting panel comprising members of the ACAN Sub-committee on Preventive Education and Publicity and representatives of the government bureaus/departments. The nature of the project, schedule, evaluation method, number of beneficiaries, budget and the past experience of the applicant in organising anti-drug educational and publicity activities, etc, will be taken into account.

     Application forms and an application guide are available at the Narcotics Division website (http://www.nd.gov.hk/preventiveeducation.htm). Interested parties can also obtain the form and guide at the Narcotics Division office, 30/F High Block, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre, Roof Floor, Low Block, Queensway Government Offices, 66 Queensway, Hong Kong.  Applications must be submitted on or before September 29 to the Narcotics Division.
