Haven of Hope Hospital Norovirus cases

    The Haven of Hope Hospital announced today (July 10) that seven female patients (aged 68 to 97) and one staff member of a geriatric and rehabilitation ward had presented with diarrhoea and vomiting symptoms since July 4. Two patients tested positive for Norovirus. Other results are pending. All patients concerned are being treated under isolation and their condition is stable. The staff member is currently on sick leave.  

     Infection control measures on the ward concerned have been enhanced. Thorough cleaning and disinfection have been carried out. There will be no admission to, or discharge from, the ward for the time being. Visiting is also suspended. All other patients in the ward are under close medical surveillance.
 
     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up action.
