CSSA caseload for June

The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in June showed an increase of 260 cases, which translates into a month-to-month increase of 0.1% compared with the figure in May, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (July 10).

     Total CSSA caseload at the end of June stood at 296,616, with a total of 535,745 recipients.  

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed a continued month-to-month decrease of 0.5% in June to 39,527.

     Single parent cases also registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.2% in June to 39,223, the 10th consecutive month to record a decrease.  

     Low earning cases showed a month-to-month increase of 0.3% in June to 18,364.

     Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was $17.6 billion for 2004-05.
