The Land Registry today (July 5) released the land registration statistics recorded for the first half of 2006.
The total number of sale and purchase agreements for all types of building units received for registration in the Land Registry for the period was 47,914. This represented a decrease of 4% compared with the second half of 2005 and 35.1% compared with the first half of 2005.
The total amount of consideration involved in these agreements was $162.52 billion. This was up by 0.3% compared with the second half of 2005 but a decrease of 30.4% compared with the first half of 2005.
During the first half of 2006, 61,805 assignments of building units were lodged for registration. This was 12.1% below the 70,276 assignments recorded during the second half of 2005 and 28.1% below the 86,004 assignments recorded in the first half of 2005.
The total consideration amounted to $160.29 billion. This was a decrease of 6.9% from the second half of 2005 and 28.8% from the first half of 2005.
Searches of land records made by members of the public during the first half of 2006 totalled 1,941,258. This was down 3.7% compared with the second half of 2005 and 12.9% compared with the first half of 2005.
