CPPCC Chairman Jia Qinglin to visit Hong Kong and officiate at Mainland, HK and Macao Trade and Economic Co-operation Forum

    At the invitation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG), the Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Mr Jia Qinglin, will come to Hong Kong from June 27 to 29 and attend the "Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao Trade and Economic Co-operation Forum" as well as conduct visits. The forum, which will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 29, is jointly organised by the Ministry of Commerce and the HKSARG to mark the third anniversary of the signing of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA).

     Chairman Jia will officiate at the opening ceremony of the Forum and deliver a keynote speech. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, Mr Donald Tsang; the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, Mr Edmund Ho; and the Minister of Commerce, Mr Bo Xilai, will also address the Forum, to be followed by two panel discussions on regional economic co-operation. Speakers of the two panel sessions include senior Central Government officials and representatives of the commercial sectors from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. On top of local representatives from various sectors, delegations from the Mainland and Macao will also attend the Forum.

     The HKSARG and the Central Government are finalising the detailed arrangements for Chairman Jia's visit to Hong Kong.
