Modern ballet "Comedy" infused with fun (with photos)
*****************************************************

Ballet has never been as humorous or as vital as in Introdans' "Comedy" in which lively characters and innovative stage designs add fun to this unususal ballet.

In this special treat, the audience encounters four Psycho Killers in military uniform, bound at the feet with rubber bands, dancing to the tune of a Talking Heads' song; a tiny gentleman performing a playful duet with his towering partner; dukes in powdered Mozartian wigs and their ladies leaping through a blizzard of soap bubbles.

"Comedy" presented by the Netherlands' Introdansunusual Ensemble for Youth, is one of the programmes of the summer festival "International Arts Carnival".

Introdans, commended by "The New York Times" as "what a solemn name for a buoyant troupe", is established in 1971, and is now one of the three biggest dance companies in the Netherlands. Introdans Ensemble for Youth, an independent department of Introdans, is aimed at presenting a repertoire from the treasury of dance, as well as works created specially for children. It is the only company of its kind in Europe actively involved in the education and promotion of the ballet amongst youngsters.

Their coming show in Hong Kong will be an attraction, not only for ballet lovers, but also for families to enjoy an evening of dance with fun.

Modern ballet "Comedy" will be staged at 7.30pm on July 21 and 22 at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium.  Tickets priced at $100, $150 and $200 are available at URBTIX outlets.  Half-price tickets are available for full-time students, senior citizens, people with disabilities and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients.
