Customs seizes 2.6 kilogrammes of heroin (with photo)

    Customs officers yesterday (June 14) seized 2.6 kilogrammes of heroin with an estimated local retail value of $1.3 million from a woman at the Hong Kong International Airport.

     About 12.45pm yesterday, Customs officers intercepted a 28-year-old Filipina, who had arrived in Hong Kong from Pakistan via Thailand.  They seized 2.6 kilogrammes of heroin from her rucksack  during a baggage inspection.

     The woman will be charged with one count of ¡°trafficking in a dangerous drug¡± and will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistrates¡¯ Courts tomorrow (June 16).  

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence and the maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
