Press release on Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital gastroenteristis cases

   A spokesperson of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) made the following announcement today (April 25) :

    Since April 20, 2006, three patients (aged 51 to 61) in a female Psychiatric ward were found to have symptoms of diarrhoea. Specimens have been sent for laboratory investigation and results are pending. All three patients have been isolated and are in stable condition. PYNEH has stepped up infection control measures in the ward and admission to the ward is withheld.

    PYNEH will continue to monitor the situation.  The cases have been reported to Hospital Authority and Centre for Health Protection.
